The grand old Mobtown Ballroom has lurched its way into 14 years of glorious dancing, performing, teaching, cafe-ing, and a number of other disreputable activities. As David Cavalier says: this place is a pirate ship on fire.
To celebrate 14 years, we are having a full weekend of live music, workshops, contests, and partying. Friday and Saturday nights will be headlined by the great Chelsea Reed and her Fairweather Band (7 pieces on Friday, 10 pieces on Saturday). Sunday evening, Michael and Sarah will be personally hosting an evening of groovy music, soul tunes, blues and slow jazz to bring the weekend to a relaxing and elegant conclusion.
Workshops will happen Saturday from 12-5pm (break from 2-3) and Sunday 1-6 (break from 3-4). We are refining a concept we used earlier this year--a set of varied classes with local and regional instructors who choose their own material--and adding new teachers and a second day of classes. Each day will be self-contained, so, yes, you can sign up for just Saturday or just Sunday (though there’s a hefty discount for taking both days). You do not need a partner, but you do need to be at a strong intermediate level or above. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Michael or Sarah.
